 Aynor Medical Center On Track For Summer Opening

Marion, SC--According to Don Lloyd, Executive Vice President of Marion Regional Healthcare System, “Plans are coming along nicely for Aynor Medical Center. The building and landscaping are nearly complete and the furniture and equipment have been delivered.”

“We are currently reviewing the credentials of several physicians,” Lloyd continued.  “It is important to find the right physician with just the right personality. We are looking for that special person who will gain the confidence of the residents of Aynor; someone they will feel very comfortable with.  Although we have interviewed several physicians, we have not made a definite selection,” he said.

Scheduled to open this summer, the new complex will specialize in family and internal medicine and offer care in the areas of pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and select surgical specialties. It will be equipped with radiology and lab capabilities. The nearly 6,000 square foot facility is designed to accommodate up to two physicians and a nurse practitioner.

 “In essence we are bringing an entire medical community to Aynor,” explained Don Lloyd, Executive Vice President of Marion Regional Healthcare System. “The Aynor Medical Center will allow real time access to the technology and medical staff of our entire healthcare system offering the citizens of Aynor access to more than just a doctors’ office.”

Marion Regional Healthcare System views this opportunity as a beginning for future expansion.  “We are continuing to look for ways to serve our surrounding communities.  The upcoming move to Aynor has been well received by the western Horry County population and we hope to continue to expand into underserved areas."
