The Wound Healing Center at Marion Regional Healthcare System Receives National Honor
The Wound Healing Center at Marion Regional Healthcare System has received national attention for its performance during the last quarter of 2008. During its annual meeting held recently in Orlando, Florida, National Healing Center recognized Marion County’s Wound Healing Center with its prestigious ‘Front Runner Award’. Accepting the award was Medical Director, Parakkat Krishnan and Program Director, Sue Rudnicki.
“We are extremely pleased to receive this honor,” said Dr. Krishnan. It speaks highly of not only our Center but those dedicated professionals who work with, and for, our patients.”
The Wound Healing Center at Marion Regional Healthcare System was one of only 26 centers, out of a field of 150, to receive this honor. “To be in the top 17% is impressive,” said Eugene (Gene) Tucker, President and CEO of Marion Regional Healthcare System. “We competed with large and well-established facilities. This achievement speaks of the need of such a Center here in Marion County and of the strong leadership provided by both Dr. Krishnan and Ms. Rudnicki.”
In operation since the fall of 2008, The Wound Healing Center at Marion Regional Healthcare System is located on Highway 76 between Marion and Mullins. A National Healing Corporation Wound Center, it specializes in the treatment of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions and offers hospital-based outpatient wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well as disease management and diabetes care. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has awarded National Healing Corporation Disease-Specific Care Certification for wound care.
