Mupanduki Joins Marion Regional Healthcare System
Marion, SC--Marion Regional Healthcare System has announced the association of Itai T. Mupanduki, M.D., MPH as a Hospitalist.
Dr. Mupanduki earned his MD from the University of Zimbabwe Medical School and a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health with a double major in Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Health Services.
He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine from Case Western Reserve University Metrohealth in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Mupanduki is a noted author with many of his works, including his latest: ‘Risen Bones, Wandering Spirits’, available through Amazon Books.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Mupanduki,” said Gene Tucker, President and CEO of Marion Regional Healthcare System. “He is a fine doctor. The fact that he is a published author is a bonus. I’m sure patients will enjoy reading and discussing his books. It’s not often that you can combine expert medical care with a book review,” Tucker said with a smile.
A Hospitalist is a physician with special skills and interest in the management of patients who require inpatient care. Working hand in hand with a patient’s primary care physician, their role is to visit the patient in the ER, determine the need for admission, provide primary care for that patient during the period of hospitalization and plan the transition of care following discharge.
Studies have shown that Hospitalist programs can reduce the lengths of stay by more than 30 percent and hospital costs by up to 20 percent.
Dr. Mupanduki joins Yaw Boateng, MD who initiated Marion Regional Healthcare System’s Hospitalist program early this fall.
